Computer Systems & Telematics (CST) Group

Focus of research at CST is on mobile and wireless communications, communication architectures and operating systems for embedded devices, and quality of service aspects in communication systems. Currently, the group consists of 3 full-time researchers, 9 PhD students, a secretary and a technician. Together with international partners we investigate on the efficient mapping of peer-to-peer-overlay networks on wireless and mobile ad-hoc networks and on efficient web services for mobile end-devices with scarce resources. One major focus is sensor networks where we develop low-power hardware as well as energy aware software infrastructures. The research results here already led to a spin-off company (ScatterWeb).

The CST (Computer System Telematics) group at Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin) will support the 4 years research programme SITUMET as an external partner. The CST group will contribute its expertise in ad-hoc sensor and receiver integration by supporting the research activities of Fraunhofer ISST in this field. In this context the CST will be subcontracted for the following tasks

  • definition of generic methods for the integration of heterogeneous meteorological sensors and sensor networks on the protocol layer
  • testing the integration of mobile ad-hoc networks in SITUMET using the research platform ScatterWeb
